All Star I Family Conference GovernanceOur conference is governed by the former, current and future chairs of All Star One, who meet twice a year to conduct the ongoing business of the conference, review its health, and plan for its future. The Chairs meet on the island during the conference (generally on Sundays) and again in Madison, CT in November. This group also is responsible for selecting chairs for future All Star One conferences. Several years ago we moved to a system in which we identify the chairs for two years of conferences, so that the chairs two years’ removed can focus on the details of doing this job and have time to assimilate details. We also welcome suggestions from the community of those individuals you believe would make good chairs for our conference. If you have such suggestions, you can email us at the address given below, or feel free to talk to one of the Executive Committee members on the island shortly after your arrival for the conference. At the November, 2004 meeting of the All Star One Chairs, an Executive Committee was created to act as an ongoing governance group for the All Star One chairs and through them, the All Star One conference. This group is imagined as being comprised of nine individuals who serve three year terms on a rotating basis. Each year, three new people will be elected to serve and three individuals will rotate off the committee. At present, we are: Bill Clegg, Paula Phillips, Henry Powsner, Jan Prochaska, Bill Tibbs, Jane Trudeau, Debbie Weiner Soule (convener), and Elizabeth Yermack. We invite your suggestions for our work and welcome your feedback. Please write to AS1Comment@yahoogroups.com to communicate with us!
2006 Chairs MeetingAt the November 2005 meeting of the Chairs, it was voted to open the November Chairs meeting to all who wished to attend from our conference community. The meeting will be held in the Conference Room of the Madison Beach Hotel in Madison, CT on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at 1:30 PM. Observers are welcome to attend; there will be a comment period for observers during the meeting, which generally concludes around 4:30 PM. Each year during the conference, we hold a Town Meeting which is designed to bring members of the conference community up to date on the work of the Star Island Corporation and our conference. Information about this year’s town meeting will be posted on this web site once the schedule has been finalized, and additional information about it will be contained in the conference “Boat News” distributed as you ride out to Star. If you have issues which you wish to suggest for the Town Meeting Agenda
